New TriMet bus shelters: Fit for Portland or SoCal?

By the end of September, each shelter should have “windscreens” made of the same one-inch tempered laminated glass at each end and, at the busiest stops, high-tech Transit Tracker displays. Conceptual illustrations from ZGF Architects also show stainless steel benches.

Lake Eola Fountain Will Cost $1M To Repair

Just like the Lake Eola fountain, the big glass and metal sculpture on the corner of Orange and South at City Hall is also appraised at a $1 million, and the deductible on the insurance policy to fix or replace it, just like the fountain, would be $500,000.

Convention center falls short on goal for minority contractors

Brinn Glass & Mirror Inc. is installing glass curtain walls in the amount of $840,000. T.A. Woods is doing about $5.7 million worth of electrical, HVAC and plumbing work on the project. But T.A. Woods recently lost its certification as a HUB, or historically under-utilized business, contractor in the state, Bridges said.

Police Reports

On Aug. 15 at 4:03 a.m., someone threw a large boulder threw a bedroom window of a home in the 20 block of Broad Street. The resident, who was sleeping in bed, was showered with broken glass and nearly hit by the boulder.
